Craft Auction

I was messaging with a new friend and we were talking about crafts and things of that sort. We were talking about ideas for her new blog and it got me thinking that maybe I can do the same thing that I suggested to her. So here it is. I am having an auction. I am posting a couple of pics of something that I made. The auction begins today and runs through the end of the month. The highest bidder gets to personalize their own calender to be hand made by me. When you enter this auction, comment with your name, email address, and bid and once a winner is chosen I will post in a new blog entry who won and email you to get the info on what you want it to look like and send you the info to send the payment to. Thanks in advance and good luck.

New Friend.

My new friend Pam emailed me today about a blog that she has. She writes about different things and we were exchanging ideas. I was looking over her blog and it is well written and has plenty of information. Please take the time to check it out and follow her. The link is listed below. If any of you have a blog please let me know and I will check it out and write a little about it also.

Thinking of new craft.

I have been looking through my plastic canvas patterns and I realize that I have a lot of small canvas patterns. Most of them are things that little girls would like and then it hit me. I could make them and put them on hair clips and head bands. Then I thought about it and I could make headbands too. I have a ton of scrap canvas for small projects but was not sure what to use it for. Now I know what to do with it.

I ran this idea by my two little girls (ages 5 and 6) and they loved it. And what better way to advertise than to let them wear these hair accessories everywhere they go. You would think that with two little girls that like to have their hair done this idea would have come to me sooner. And getting the hair clips from the local dollar store, having the canvas and yarn already, This should be an easy business to get started.

I know that this post is short but the next will be longer and hopefully include photos. Wish me luck all and I will post as soon as I get some done.

Newest project

My newest project is one that is a little tough to do but I took a pattern for a block calender that had a lighthouse on it and took the lighthouse off. I made one of these of Tennessee and one of Georgia. There is what the Georgia one looked like. I sold this one to a guy at work for $20.

Crafter of the Month for July 2010

This month's Crafter of the Month is my someone that I am quickly becoming good friends with. Her name is Rhea Snider and she is from just outside of Chattanooga, TN. She is a stay at home mom to Anastasia, who is 8 years old, and Timothy II, who is 4 years old.

Some of the crafts that she has done are pillows, aprons, makeup bags, headbands and a doll quilt. She is currently woeking on making a doll out of paper clay. I can't wait to see how that will turn out. I am sure that it will look great when she is done.

Her hobbies are crafts, cooking (trying new recipes) working in her vegetable garden and also her flower garden. Roses are her favorite. She also likes to read to relax or "kill time."

Let's welcome her to the club and hopefully we will hear more from her soon. Thanks Rhea for sharing and we will see who the Crafter of August will be.

Plastic Canvas

Plastic canvas is similar to cross stitch. The patterns are similar but instead of cloth canvas the canvas is made of a soft plastic in the form of a kind of a grid.

I have been doing plastic for about 5 years now. I was placed on bed rest during my pregnancy with my youngest child. My mother started me on it to give me something to do to keep me from going crazy during my three months of bed rest. It really was relaxing and the more that I did it the more I was decorating my house.

I made everything from wall hangings, tissue box covers, coaster sets, and even block calenders. After a while I could look at the patter and all of a sudden I would see new patterns. I would make my own patterns and design my own crafts. It was really neat all of the things that I was coming up with.

Here is July's challenge for all of you. Plastic canvas is not that expensive and neither is the yarn. You can get them at Walmart. The challenge is...create something out of plastic canvas that will go with the theme of a baby shower. This could be for a boy or girl and even for multiple babies. You have until July 30th to make it and post a pic in the comment on this post. The person with the most unique post will be the Crafter of the Month for the month of August. Good luck ladies.
